Hip hop culture in Pakistan is on the rise, and the music industry is taking notice. Pakistan is often overlooked when discussing global hip hop, but the country has been quietly producing some of the freshest beats and rhymes for years. With the new wave of Pakistani hip hop artists emerging, there is now a thriving underground scene in the country. Hip hop in Pakistan first found its footing in the early 2000s. The genre started to gain momentum with the emergence of Rawalpindi-based rapper Adil Omar, who was the first artist to be signed to a major record label in Pakistan. He released his debut album The Long March in 2005 and was soon followed by other influential rappers such as Laal, Bohemia, and Entity Paradigm. These artists paved the way for a new generation of hip hop talent in Pakistan. The scene has grown exponentially in recent years, with more and more artists coming up and releasing music. The current generation of hip hop artists in Pakistan are diverse, and include female MCs, producers, and rappers from all over the country. Some of the most popular artists in the scene today include Asim Azhar, Talha Anjum, Ahmer, and Ali G.
